Hello to all my fellow dragon riders! Just kidding, I know I’d be a scribe in the Fourth Wing universe. But that’s neither here nor there.
A few book friends and I recently attended the Iron Flame Midnight Release Party at Barnes and Noble. Looking back, I don’t think I’ve been to a midnight release party since the last Harry Potter book back in 2007.
Even though I’m comparing two different events 16 years apart, from what I can recall, the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows release party had a lot more activities. However, I still had a lot of fun at the Iron Flame release party!
Before I tell you all about it, be sure to check out my full review of Iron Flame.
Here’s a few of the activities my local Barnes and Noble put on during the release:
Taboo, but make it Fourth Wing
When we first entered the release party, we all picked a clothespin at random. On our clothespin had a Fourth Wing related word that we couldn’t say the whole night. Mine was “Xaden”.
Not too hard when you think about how many nicknames Xaden has (wingleader, shadow daddy…).
Friendship Bracelets
This was probably my favorite activity of the night. I feel like ever since the Taylor Swift Eras Tour, friendship bracelets have become so much more common. Confession: I hadn’t made one in years so it was like learning all over again!
We collected our beads of choice and found a quiet spot among the history books to perch to make our bracelets. We all went with the same word (yes, it was Xaddy) but we had different color schemes.
Iron Flame / Fourth Wing Origami
They also had a stand for creating your own dragon-themed origami. I didn’t get any good pictures of this one, but that might be for the best considering I’m not too good at origami!
Trivia
At around 11pm, they started a game of trivia. You know, you think you’re really knowledgeable about a book until you surround yourself with a group of fellow book-obsessed strangers.
Book Pick-up at Midnight
And of course, the most important part of the night was collecting our books at midnight. Not only did they have copies of Iron Flame available for pick up, but they also had the holiday special edition of Fourth Wing.
I actually didn’t own a copy of Fourth Wing prior to this release, so I picked up both! And I’m glad I did, because they both have the black sprayed edges and are GORGEOUS.
Overall, attending the Iron Flame Midnight Release Party at Barnes and Noble was worth being tired at work the next day. I devoured Iron Flame in just a few days, and I will be sharing a review soon!
