Hostel Lullaby is a stylish hostel located in the heart of Chiang Mai old town. I stayed there in January 2024, and if you’re considering booking a stay, I’ll debrief you on my experience.
Chiang Mai was the second stop in my journey of backpacking Southeast Asia, and after I took the overnight train from Bangkok, I was EXHAUSTED.
Thankfully, Hostel Lullaby was a great place to catch up on rest and relax.
Here’s everything you need to know about staying at this hostel.
Don’t have time to read the full review? The short summary is yes, I recommend staying in Hostel Lullaby in Chiang Mai.
Hostel Lullaby Chiang Mai: Overview
At the time of writing, Hostel Lullaby has a 9.5 rating on Hostelworld, which is amazing!
I’d give it the same rating. This hostel has a great mix of social activities and chill, quiet spaces. It’s a convenient location to stay during your time in Chiang Mai.
Not to mention…a great free breakfast. My bar is usually not super high for hostels, but for this reason and more, Hostel Lullaby surpassed my expectations.
It’s not a large hostel – only two floors – but I found that really added to the cozy ambiance.
Accommodation and Beds
Hostel Lullaby offers two types of rooms and offerings:
- Bunk Bed Dorm : 3.5 ft. 5 star mattress with pillowtop, Power outlet 220V, Reading lights, Air conditioning, Ceiling fan, Big size under-bed lockers, Towel rails, Duvets and Dorm Curtain
- Double Room with Ensuite : 5 star mattress with pillowtop (Queen size), Smart TV, Power outlet 220V, Reading lights, Air conditioning, Ceiling fan and Duvet
Beds start at 500 baht for one night.
Within the bunk bed dorms, there are both mixed genders and female-only dorms.
I stayed in a mixed dorm (as female-only was full when I booked), but I found everyone who stayed here was very kind and friendly.
Each bed comes with a light and outlets. The rooms also have air conditioning – which for me is a must for the hot Chiang Mai days.
Compared to other hostels I’ve stayed at in Chiang Mai, Hostel Lullaby’s beds were some of the most comfortable.
Social, Party or Both?
Hostel Lullaby definitely isn’t a party hostel; however, it’s social. They offer a lot of activities that give residents ample opportunities to get to know each other.
They have a lovely living room and garden for you to hang out in as you please.
I met a lot of people by participating in their activities like yoga.
Activities
Hostel Lullaby offers plenty of activities to its guests. The best part? They’re free!
Activities they offer include:
- Yoga
- Muay Thai
- Cooking class
The staff are also more than happy to arrange tours for you. You can book a bunch of different tours here, from cooking classes to elephant sanctuaries to jungle trekking.
The best part is these tours come with hostel pickup!
Location
Hostel Lullaby is located in the heart of a respectful old community area of the Chiang Mai old town. It’s a great place to base yourself for your time in the city.
It is positioned close to several historical and religious sites such as Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang, the famous and highly respected Buddhist monasteries that can be reached within walking distance.
When the light fades out, enjoy hopping around hundreds of food stalls and handmade shops at the bustling Night Bazaar and Sunday market (walking street), just minutes away from the hostel.
Anything you need is in close proximity. Since Chiang Mai is relatively small, you can walk to many places from the hostel.
Safety
I always felt safe at Hostel Lullaby Chiang Mai. There is a locker in the room (bring your own lock!) and the door has a key.
Reception is open between 7am and 10pm.
The location is safe, too. I never had any issues being alone in the evenings.
If you’re heading to Chiang Mai, definitely consider staying at Hostel Lullaby!
