Top Bookstores in Orlando to Visit

A white wall inside a bookstore in Orlando with a neon sign that says "unreliable narrator".

As a writer and book nerd alike, I always visit local bookstores when I travel to new places. As a Central Florida native, I’m going to take you through the top bookstores in Orlando, Florida to visit.

These are all local bookstores, of course. While there’s nothing wrong with visiting a chain such as Barnes and Noble, I encourage everyone to support local booksellers when they can.

The below bookstores are in no particular order – they all have different collections and aesthetics, but they are all well worth the trip!

If you’re a fellow reader, check out my Book Reviews page where I share book recommendations and my honest thoughts about all the books I’ve read recently.

Writer’s Block Bookstore

Address: 316 N. Park Avenue Winter Park, FL 32789 and 32 W. Plant Street Winter Garden, FL 34787

This local independent bookstore is nestled on Park Avenue, but they also have an additional location in Winter Garden. Writer’s Block opened in 2019 and has been a fan favorite since then.

They specialize in new releases, New York Times best-sellers, oldies but goodies books in paperback, Indie Next picks, and unique gifts, games, journals, and writing instruments and puzzles. I know, that’s a lot!

If you’re lucky, you may be there during an in-store author event with a nationally recognized author. You can also join one of their book clubs!

Joybird Books

Address: 3018 Corrine Dr, Orlando, FL 32803

Joybird is a used bookstore in Orlando, focused on bringing together art, literacy and community. One of my favorite things about Joybird is their emphasis on local authors and artists.

In the front of the bookstore, there is a section dedicated to local authors. I love perusing this area and seeing what fellow Orlando citizens have written.

In addition, they host a lot of fun events like open mics, craft nights and more.

Polly Seymour New Leaf Bookstore

Address: 1052 W. Morse Blvd. Winter Park, FL 32789

I have to be honest with you guys, my favorite thing about New Leaf is how affordable it is! If you want the best book deals in Orlando, you have to go to New Leaf.

This bookstore is located inside the Winter Park Library. It’s sustained by locals who contribute books, records, magazines, DVDs and others for sale. It’s also run by volunteers!

If you ever need to donate books, this bookstore is definitely a worthy candidate – and it helps out our local library.

Brightlight Books Overstock Center

Address: 1301 E Altamonte Dr, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701

Not sure what you’re looking for but you’ll know it when you see it? If that sounds like you, you’ll want to visit Brightlight Books

Of all the bookstores in Orlando, this one might be the most overwhelming. This used bookstore has bins and bins of paperbacks and vinyls. Their prices are affordable, too.

You can easily make a day of visiting Brightlight Books. I recommend keeping an open mind – there’s so much here you’re bound to find some new authors!

Spiral Circle Bookstore

Address: 750 N Thornton Ave, Orlando, FL 32803

This independent bookstore specializes in spiritual and self-help materials. Further, they are a spiritual center and anchor institution for like-minded people to gather.

From biographies to ancient texts, Spiral Circle has a book for everyone. A visit here is a chance to learn something new about the world.

Park Ave CDs

Address: 2916 Corrine Dr, Orlando, FL 32803

I know, I know, we’re talking about bookstores, not record stores. But hear me out – Park Ave CDs has a comprehensive online book store.

Established in 1984, Park Ave CDs has been a staple of Orlando for over 35 years! They even feature books published by local literary publishers.

Tip: Park Ave CDs is located right next to Joybird, so you could visit both in one trip!

I hope you get to check out these bookstores in Orlando during your next visit. Happy reading!
